Wednesday
Night, August 25th Spinners, "Reality TV Night",
By
Ann Marie [Piekos] Borges
Expecting
a crowd like the "Stephen King bobble head night" Mom and Ann Marie
started out early for the line.
Being
the first in line this time, Mom had extra time to go rock climbing.
Can you believe these photos?!?!?!
Although
there was no Frisbee dog again this time (Ann Marie was disappointed), we did
manage to try some new baseball park food and much to our shock - really liked
the popcorn chicken and onion rings.......
There
were promises of "Boston based" reality stars to make appearances.
We were not expecting any "Survivor" contestants, or anyone we
really knew of. But we were a bit surprised when Julia DeMato (American
Idol 2) Sang the National Anthem.
Then
as the game progressed (was there a game ?! ha ha ) After each inning,
they had a reality personality trivia quiz- (What show were they from).
Let's
just say she look very different. We didn't recognize her. I know,
we call ourselves Survivor fans.
(John
had guessed this earlier as a maybe to show up)
Anyways
here is where it get more interesting, John while going to get more
concessions, he walked very close by Julia Demato.
and
then this got him excited and he makes me go with him to try and
stalk out more reality people...... We were wondering who else would be
there.... We didn't see anyone unfortunately - and believe me we looked.
So we sat back down, and right behind us was Jeanne, signing autographs for
little kids.
So
John jumps up grabs his tiki torch and throws at me to go get her autograph
(as she is walking away). I have no writing implement, so I am gong to
get a pen in my bag, but John tells me to get the sharpie (an implement
preferred by celebrities, I later learned) from the little boy. Since I
did not see this writing exchange, I stared at the kids and Jeanne
dumbfounded. So John jumps into action.
He
asks the kid to use his pen, grabs it from him and chases Jeanne down to
the Gator Pit (as she is trying to exit the park with her family) and
asks her for her autograph !!
This
was definitely a highlight of the night - seeing John come back all proud that
his celebrity stalking paid off.
John
also almost got a couple foul balls (now that would have just capped off the
night!).
All
in all a great night out at the old ball park.
PS
- Although the Spinners were looking good at the 7th inning, the lost to NJ
3-2
(yes
there was a game among the rock climbing, greasy eating, stalking and chasing
foul balls)
